Beginning the journey with a cup of tea

Okay, finally I've done it. I have my own blog.

In my personal life I spend hardly any time with computers. So, the concept of creating a blog that might at some point go beyond what I do during work hours is a bit of a jump for me.

It points out that among the 7 1/2 habits of lifelong learners the hardest one for me is to use technology to my advantage outside of the office.

Probably the easiest habit for me is to view problems as challenges. I'm not sure I ever thought that I had another option. I like trying to find the answer to things. Most of us in libraries do. That's why we like our jobs. So when faced with a problem, I like the challenge of finding a way around it. I am not always successful and sometimes we don't get to pick a solution, but we can always choose how we view the problem/challenge. Most of the time, I enjoy the journey to the solution.

My first problem/challenge in this journey was coming up with a name for the blog. I thought a lot about it and finally thought one thing that I always enjoy is a pot of tea. In the morning, it gets me going (the caffeine helps). It sets the tone for the rest of the day. In the evening a pot of tea brings the day to a gentle close. A blog with regular entries might also be looked at that way, something written about your goals for the day in the morning or to journal about how your day has come to a close.

I love tea cozies, they keep a pot of tea warm and help you to relax a little longer. I also really enjoy gardening and have the problem/challenge this spring of starting from scratch since our house has only natural landscaping at this point.

Thus the name and the end of this first post.
